Senior Amazon support staff explained that Apple requested Amazon force all Mac kindle users to upgrade to the 10.10 before they can use the latest Kindle app. You can check the Kindle version number by choosing "Kindle" from the menu of your app and then selecting "About Kindle." Sometimes there are multiple eBook versions, and old versions of the eBook do not support page numbers, since support for this feature on the Kindle was only added two or three years ago. If the go to page feature is not present among the menu options for your Kindle eBook, I might try to check whether there is a version of this book that supports printed page numbers. Kindle books that support printed page numbers should have an entry under the "Product Details" heading of their Amazon web page that lists the "Print length" in pages and includes an entry for "Page number source ISBN" that identifies the printed book version used for page numbering. For example, in the above case where I have navigated to page 98 of 182, if I double tap in the center of the screen to bring up the menu controls, and then either use a four-finger tap on the bottom half of the screen to move to the last element or else slide my finger up from the home button, I'll hear VO announce both the page number and location information: "50%, of 182, Loc 1490 of 2985".
